  Partnerships, Scholarships, Service, and Recognition

The Rome College Foundation (RCF) is committed to serving the Rome New York community's needs by promoting and enhancing improved higher educational opportunities for our local students ... building a better workforce for the future.

With grants from the Sears Family Foundation, the Foundation co-sponsored several programs administered by the Chamberšs Education Committee, including: Sophomore Mentoring Program for students at RFA, RCS, and NYSSD; College Night at RFA; the "Be Cool" substance abuse education program in cooperation with Rome Memorial Hospital for fifth graders; the "Starting Off On The Right Foot" program for college-bound high school graduates; and the traveling art exhibit by elementary school students.

New Grant Program

The Foundation announced a new grant program to support collaborative projects between area colleges. The program is made possible through a gift from the estate of James G. Gillette, a long time Rome business owner who passed away in 2006. Area colleges working together to improve their capacity to promote workforce preparation, higher learning and service to the local community, may apply for the grant each year in October through the Rome Chamber of Commerce. The annual grants will average $3,000. Successful recipients will report the results of their projects to the Foundation Board of Directors.

College Night at RFA

Every October, over 180 colleges, military representatives, and technical schools attend Rome Free Academy's College Night. The event is open to students of Rome, Oneida, Holland Patent and other surrounding schools. The Rome College Foundation distributes information about the Foundation's many offerings to students and parents.
