The Sasso–Filey Trade Education Scholarship was created to support high school seniors who are pursuing their education and careers through trade, technical, or vocational programs. Skilled trades are vital to our communities, and this scholarship is designed to honor hard-working students who are ready to pursue trade education and build their futures through skill, dedication, and service.
This award is given in memory of Leonard Sasso and John and Eleanor Filey — residents of Rome, NY — whose lives reflected the values of hard work, perseverance, and service to others. Each of them pursued training in the trades that allowed them to provide for their families, develop meaningful careers, and contribute to the well-being of their community. Their legacies serve as a reminder that skilled trades are an essential part of a strong and thriving society.
